CHARACTER NAME: Kara Thrace
SERIES: Battlestar Wiki
CANON POINT: Shortly after her return from Caprica. Around day 61.
AGE: Unknown, as far as I know. I would put her at around the same age as Lee Adama, so ~25.
APPEARANCE: Here
PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: N/A
PERSONALITY:
What would someone see, if they were meeting Kara Thrace for the first time? They would see a young woman who swears like a sailor, is impulsive, often brash, challenges authority with alarming regularity, independent and punches above her weight. She seems generally lighthearted, with a fair bit of sarcasm thrown in, but can take things seriously when it is required of her. She seems to have a chip on her shoulder when it comes to authority figures. Her hobbies? Drinking, gambling, smoking and destroying Cylons.
She is definitely is impulsive, more so when it comes to emotional decisions. If something is making her uncomfortable - and this is most keenly true for romantic relationships - she will back out as soon as she can. She can also be impulsive when it comes to fighting, but her ability to think on her feet in that regard normally means she comes out on top. (Though it must be mentioned that her success in combat is generally owed to a mixture of determination of and sheer dumb luck.) She loves to play the hero, to save the day, and will take risks if she thinks she has a chance of pulling something off.
She's not afraid to play rough or kick below the belt if she has to.
As mentioned above, Kara often clashes with authority figures. This has been a common theme in her history, from her early days in the military to her life on the Galactica. Rank won't stop her from arguing fiercely with a superior, goading them, fighting them, or anything really. If you earn her respect she'll generally refrain - this is demonstrated in her relationship with Commander Adama - but there is no easy way to earn this respect. Despite this apparent disregard for authority, she is incredibly loyal to the fleet, and will give everything she has to protect it.
She can be overly harsh, particularly when it comes to people she cares about. This is a combination of her not being able to express that she cares and instead defaulting back to keeping them at an arms length with her harshness, and a desire to try and make them stronger. Though she does try and keep the people she cares for at a distance, she is fiercely loyal and intensely protective of them.
Despite what her attitude might convey, Kara is very religious, something again instilled by her mother during her childhood. In private she prays regularly.
For all her cocky attitude and self-assured words, Kara is far less confident in herself than she would have others believe. She carries around a lot of self-hatred, through she rarely lets that show. Her childhood warped her worldview. Her mother was frequently violent towards Kara, in an attempt to teach her about suffering and its necessity. Her guilt over the death of Zak only exacerbated this hatred. The moments where she shows this side of herself to the world are few and far between.
ABILITIES:
Kara is good at improvising fixes with machines. She can fight well with whatever she has available to her, whether that be her fists or a gun. She is a talented pilot, and is able to (generally) think clearly under pressure.
POSSESSIONS: A pyramid ball, a gun and the clothes on her back.

JOURNAL ENTRY SAMPLE:
[Kara switches on the video function without too much difficulty.]
Have fun? Very frakking funny. I just got off one dead-end, piece-of-crap planet, how'd I end up on another one? [She laughs, sharply.] Least I can breathe here.
Who's even listening to this? A bunch of toasters standing around somewhere? [She knows the cylons aren't stupid - they're geniuses as far as machines go - this doesn't really seem like something they'd do. And KERNOS Co.? The name doesn't exactly ring a bell.]
Look. Whoever you are, you can send me back now. I'm really not one for 'exciting group missions'. [The last few words are punctuated by finger quotes.] I'm sure there are plenty of people out there - people who aren't, you know, busy saving the human frakking race - who'd just love to be your labrats.
[She puts on her best patronising smile and waits.]
